Review Environmental Occupations : Technical:This is one of five videotapes in the acclaimed "Emerging Careers Video Library(tm)," an up-to-date career exploration resource which features the top, fastest-growing, high tech occupations of the future. The series was developed to give students a clear idea of what it would be like to work in each occupation - to go on over 30 "job shadow" assignments - and at the same time learn the most current labor market information on each occupation. Each videotape in this series covers a specific career group and describes 6-7 top occupations within that group. The viewers hear workers talk frankly about their jobs while also learning about the typical job responsibilities, recommended education & training, desirable aptitudes, average salaries, rewards and challenges, and employment outlook.

Review Ghost Busters / Columbia Pictures:Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the script, but Bill Murray gets all the best lines and moments in this 1984 comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (Meatballs). The three comics, plus Ernie Hudson, play the New York City-based team that provides supernatural pest control, and Sigourney Weaver is the love interest possessed by an ancient demon. Reitman and company are full of original ideas about hobgoblins-who knew they could "slime" people with green plasma goo?-but hovering above the plot is Murray's patented ironic view of all the action. Still a lot of fun, and an obvious model for sci-fi comedies such as Men in Black. -Tom Keogh.

Review Parenting the Explosive Child: featuring Drs. Ross Greene and Stuart Ablon / CustomFlix:Explosive and noncompliant children and adolescents present significant challenges to parents and cause distress to all family members. Such children tend to be quite misunderstood and their behavioral challenges are often poorly addressed by traditional discipline strategies which conceive such challenges as attention-seeking, willful, and manipulative. Research suggests that such children may actually lack cognitive skills essential to handling frustration, solving problems, and mastering situations requiring flexibility and adaptability. In other words, the difficulties of these children may be best understood as a learning disability. Naturally, if a child is lacking crucial cognitive skills, the goal for parents and other adults is to teach those skills. In this two-hour program, Dr. Ross Greene (author of The Explosive Child) and his colleague, Dr. Stuart Ablon, help parents understand the specific cognitive skill deficits that can impair a child's capacities for flexibility and frustration tolerance and provide step-by-step guidance on their approach - known as Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) - for teaching these skills. This video features live interviews with parents of behaviorally challenging children and provides answers to many of the common questions parents have about the CPS approach.
